Honor Your Parents (Deutéronomy 5:16)
God is the Father. Since what He showed to the world is the works that were manifested to His Son, the latter died for the Father and God raised him (Heb 5:7), and even though the Son became the Son of Man (Php 2.6-11), God enthroned him King of kings. The relationship between the Father and the Son is eternal: thus, the Father is the One who resurrects and the Son is the one who is glorified through the Father's glory. Because this is the hierarchy that He showed to creatures (Eph 6:1-3), our faith consists in serving the Father. To serve well one's visible parents is the flower of faith which enables one to serve God well. Since one has received the Holy Spirit (Ro 8:15-17), one must honor one's parents according to the Spirit's instructions.
¡Û If we want to receive blessings, let us honor our parents. This is the eternal covenant.
¡Û Receive blessings. This is the faith that pleases God.
¡Û Testify to it. It is only when one honors one's visible parents that one can bear the fruit of true faith.
¡Ø To honor one's parents is not to criticize them. God bestows blessings upon him who acts in this way.
