The Pure in Heart (Matthew 5:1-8)
God is true. He gave Jesus Christ to the world to purify believers through him, for the working of the devil consisted in defiling (Rev 16:13). The devil was the archangel who profaned heaven and was expelled from it (Eze 28:16-17) whereas demons are impure spirits, which are of him. Therefore, a defiled spirit can be cleansed only by God's blood and Jesus Christ is the one who showed it to the world (Ac 20:28). Because he shed his blood to blot out our sins (Heb 9:28), we also must struggle against sin to the point of shedding blood, if we want to preserve the purity of our spirits (Heb 12:4). Since the Holy Spirit was given for this purpose, the Spirit is a holy God.
¡Û Not to be pure after the forgiveness of one's sins, means to become again a slave to sin. Therefore, one's spirit must be pure.
¡Û Because the spirit of a Christian of Jesus aims at lifetime purity, one calls it holiness.
¡Û The Holy Spirit is not the one who came to us because he had nowhere to go. Since he came to support our redeemed spirits, we must trust in him.
¡Ø Without holiness, one cannot have blessings, thus they are the portion of the pure. The pure in spirit are blessed.
