Let Us Be Merciful (Matthew 5:1-7)
God is love. If He allowed creatures to know Him the purpose was to make them know about His mercy. One cannot know God even through the Law because one cannot know His mercy. However, only through the gospel (Pr 14:31) this is possible for mercy came through Jesus Christ. Therefore, to believe in Jesus (Eph 4:32) is to experience God's mercy (Mt 18:27) which means to have tasted His true love (1 Jn 3:10-12). Mercy is God's true love (1 Co 13:2), Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit whom He gave.
¡Û He who professes to love but does not have mercy is a liar. There must be mercy even among one's own brothers.
¡Û Because he who professes to believe in Jesus but does not have mercy is a hypocrite, mercy is true love.
¡Û One knows the merciful one and the unmerciful one by the fruit, and this fruit is true love.
¡Ø Let us love. Let us be merciful, then God shall love us.
