Concepts of Berea Movement |
|
|
Berea
Movement is the Bible resemblance movement, layman movement, and New Testament church movement. These concepts of Berea Movement are unchangeable regardless of ages and circumstances. These concepts have historical universality, and they represent standpoint of the the Bible. In other words, they represent unchangeability of our faith.
In short, Berea is the Bible resemblance movement. But we cannot explain Berea Movement just with this one word. It's just like a triangle, which is composed with three sides, not with just one side. Concept of Berea Movement can be perfected when the three concepts come together: Bible resemblance movement, New Testament church movement, layman movement. To understand Berea, we must understand these three concepts on the whole.

Most crafty disturbance of devil to church is perversion of the word and distortion of the Holy Spirit's works. Authority and motive power of church are based on the word of truth and works of the Holy Spirit. Devil's scheme on New Testament church is to disturb works of the Holy Spirit with humanistic translation of the word, and deceive pagan mysticism as works of the Spirit.
The most serious problem of contemporary church is humanism and mysticism. Humanism makes people translate the Bible with human-centered mind, not with the will of God, and make God servant of people. Mysticism disguises spirituality and fantasies of pagan religions as God's power, and insists that God's power does not belong only to God. It's a Satanic message.
As doctrines and theologies, products of humanism, cannot receive testimony of the Spirit, they subordinated church to politics and scholarship with oppressive tyranny of the majority. Mysticism permits mystic customs of pagan religions to come into church, and make church lose spiritual power of Jesus name.
Now, mission of Berea Movement is reform of church. Two main goals of the reform are warfares against humanism and mysticism. If we don't expel them, how can we save numerous souls oppressed by them? The way to accomplish this mission is the Bible resemblance movement. To build up faith from the Bible, and to know the Bible by the Will of God are God's holy blessings to human. Berea movement must not ignore this duty of carrying those blessings from God to human.
Unless we know the will of God by teachings of the Bible, we cannot insist reform of church. Therefore, Berea movement must proclaim the will of God to the world.

As recorded on Acts. chapter 17, Jews of Berea were fair minded. They received the word with great eagerness and had respectable faith to examine the Scriptures every day to see if the word was true. the Bible resemblance movement is to 'return to the word' movement that saints must resemble promises of the Bible, faith of the Bible, and power of the Bible.
Despite the 2,000 year of Christian church history, why church must insist the Bible resemblance even these days. Because, the world is under the rule of devil. Practically, the world is divided into two parts God's part and devil's part. Although human beings have outstanding wisdom and power, they are still devil's servants since Adam disobeyed God's word. Jesus, also, established his church in this world, the darkness.

Layman movement admits power of laymen based on the
Bible, and encourages their participation. These are
directed to expand range of laymen's Christian life and
spiritual authority to the very level Bible
presents. To achieve these, naturally, we must have New
Testament-centered mind and admit laymen's freedom of
faith. Also, we have to teach the Bible and encourage their participation.
Korean church groans in the limited cage of
suffocating ecclesiastical authority. Pastors and leaders of
church cause this ecclesiastical authority. Though,
they teach laymen the Bible, it has been performed in the cage
of ecclesiastical authority. Therefore, laymen have
been deprived of right to know God, and works and
experiences of the Holy Spirit have been limited. If
someone's experience exceed ecclesiasticists' only a
little bit, at once they threat him by treating him as
heresy. Pastors, not only join this tyranny, but also
lead it, so they cannot possibly lead the reform.
